Weekend Shenanigans

We went to a Fall Festival at Connor's school Friday night. They had a lot of games/booths and bounce houses for the kids. It was perfect weather for the event and the kids had fun.

Addie got a much needed haircut on Saturday. I would have been OK with a trim but she wanted it shorter like Mommy's so she got 4 or 5 inches cut off!

Saturday afternoon we went to Blaise's birthday party. More bounce house time and lots of fun with friends. Happy 3rd Birthday, Blaise!

On Sunday we went to the Fussell's for their annual pumpkin carving party. Everyone brings their pumpkins to decorate and/or carve and Chris makes chili for dinner.

The party was fun as always and they had a really good turnout. There were 12 kids this year! It's impossible to get that many kids to look one way and smile at the same time :)

Mommy's masterpiece - Spooky Witch

Pumpkin carving itself isn't exactly 'fun' and to top it off, the kids picked one of the hardest designs for me to do! It was the only one they both agreed on though so I did my best to appease them :)

We're looking forward to Halloween this Friday! Hope everyone has a fun and safe night trick-or-treating!

Lycra & Lace Triathlon

John and the kids came out to support me in my triathlon this past weekend. It was a beautiful morning for a race!

Lycra & Lace was an all women's triathlon that I did with my friend, Tiffany. It was an inaugural event at Ft DeSoto and they had a pretty good turnout. There were about 400 women who raced. I beat my personal best so I was happy and did pretty well overall :)

1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 5k run

I'm waving at John and the kids in this picture.

Afterwards we went boating with Tiffany, Mike and their boys, Andrew and Nate. It was a gorgeous day on the water!

The kids having fun trying on my swim caps :) They look ready to race to me!

Taekwondo

Connor passed his test for his Orange belt yesterday and did awesome!

Connor and Reid - No contact sparring

Needless to say, Connor is really enjoying his after school program :)

Siesta Key Triathlon

We did it! John and I competed in the Siesta Key Triathlon a couple weekends ago. A cold front had moved in the night before so we froze our butt's off that morning. Nothing like standing on the beach in nothing but a suit in 62 degree weather! Brrrr, but at least it wasn't raining as it had been the day before and luckily the water was still a warm 82.

So we had a friendly, family bet on who was going to 'win' - not win the race but who was going to beat whom. Let's just say I let John win ;) I didn't want to crush his manhood.

All joking aside, John did awesome! He hardly had time to train and whooped my butt.

1/2 mile swim, 13 mile bike, 3.1 run
We are pretty sure they didn't mark the run accurately. There is no way we're running a 6:27 and 6:26 min/mile respectively ;)

We hung out on the beach for a couple hours afterwards with our friends, Alek and Lisa. It was a much more relaxing view of the water at this point and an absolutely gorgeous day!
