Beach

 

We took a day trip to the beach a couple of weekends ago and couldn't have picked a better day! We have had more rain than we could ever care for so it was nice to have a beautiful day for a change, plus we hadn't really been to the beach all summer. We met up with a few other couples and had a fabulous day. Addie was a bit tired as she still needs a nap but Connor had a blast! I have never seen him have so much fun at the beach. He wasn't afraid of the waves or water splashing in his face and would even laugh when the waves would surprise him and knock him under. We played in the sand, splashed in the water, kicked the ball around and soaked in the rays :-)

 

 

 

First Day of VPK!

 

Connor started VPK yesterday! I can hardly believe I have a child in pre-kindergarten already! He had a great first day and he and his buddies welcomed a handful of new students to their class. The VPK room happens to be the only classroom that is upstairs in their building so he was excited to be 'upstairs all day' where the big kids go. He also had to start wearing a uniform to school. It is only required for the kids in VPK but is "recommended" for the rest of the school. We did not stock up on shirts for Addie (they're not cheap!) but she does have one so naturally she wanted to wears to match her big brother.  

 

 

 

 

After school I treated them to Yogurtology to celebrate his first day of school - a new tradition!

 

 

 

 

 

 



Baseball

 

John took Connor to his first Tampa Bay Ray's game last week. Connor's best bud, Finn, also went with his dad as it was kids night (and reduced priced tickets!). The kids had a blast to say the least. Not sure how much baseball they absorbed but they had fun :-)

 

 

 

 

Spirit Week

Last week was spirit week at the kids daycare, marking the end to another summer. Mommy goofed and forgot it was spirit week though so we missed Monday (Crazy Hair Day)...

Build and Grow



 

We stopped in Lowe's last Saturday after Addie's gymnastics class looking for a new ceiling fan for our living room. We noticed a sign on the door for a Build and Grow workshop that started at 10 AM. Since it was exactly 10 AM when we got there we decided to check it out. Lowe's apparently holds these classes twice a month and building something different each workshop. Another parent we talked to said that it is usually Disney themed and this week they were building Dusty from the new movie Planes.

 

 

They provide all the parts and tools (cutest little hammer I've ever seen!) and they even get their own apron to keep. Connor had fun and did a pretty good job building his airplane. Upon completion you even get a badge to iron onto your apron. We're definitely going to have to check out another one of these workshops :-)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Connor's 1st Field Trip!

Connor's class took their first field trip last Friday. His school recently got a brand new 2013 TurtleTop Terra Transport School Bus and they finally got to break it in! This is no regular school bus, this ride is decked out with leather seats and a big screen! They took a half day trip to the Florida Aquarium.

 

Here is Connor and his best bud, Finn, getting settled on the bus. They were so excited to sit in regular seats and watch a movie on the big screen...even though the aquarium is literally 2 miles away. If that. 

 

Connor said they had a great time and the teachers said they were all very well behaved. His favorite part about the day was seeing the divers in the shark tank :-)

Big Girl Bed

 

We've been talking up a 'big girl' bed with Addie for a couple of weeks now. She was doing fine in her crib but we figure if we want her to act like a big girl we need to treat her like one and big girls don't sleep in baby beds! So John converted her crib to a toddler bed, essentially removing one of the sides allowing her to get in and out of bed.

 

She was super excited and did a great job her first night. She went to bed without issue and didn't get out of bed until the next morning. I watched her in the monitor and when she woke up the next morning she laid there for a minute or so like she was debating what to do. When she finally got out of bed and wandered into the kitchen she was smiling ear to ear. I told her how proud I was of her and how good she had done in her new bed. She was proud of herself, it was adorable :-) 

 

Next up....potty training!

 

 

 

 



Summer Fun

 

We had a small pool party for the kids this past Saturday with some of their friends from school. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, splashed in the pool and let the kids do what kids do best....play!

 

Addie loves Brody and they play so good together ♥

 

They get tired at the same time too ;-)

 

The kids had a great time...and the adults did too! I can't believe the end of the summer is already near. Connor starts VPK on the 19th!!
