Happy Halloween!

We started our Halloween festivities on Sunday at the Peper/Fussell household. I believe this is our third year in a row doing this with them. Marti and Chris make chili and we all carve our pumpkins. The weather was perfect as it had just cooled down, making it feel more festive. Our pumpkin was so big that gutting it took forever, so we went with an 'easy' design this year.

Carlton Academy had their annual Halloween parade Wednesday morning. Connor and Addie were less than thrilled, can't you tell by the pictures? I don't think Addison understood what was going on and it really doesn't seem like a fun idea for the kids. It was cute to see all the other costumes though. And it's always nice to skip out of work for a bit :)

We picked the kids up early that afternoon to get ready for trick-or-treating! We went back to the Peper/Fussell residence to go out in their neighborhood. Our street is too busy to feel safe letting the kids loose. They had so much fun and got way more candy than we know what to do with. Neither of them were ready to call it a night even though they were both up waaay past their bedtime. Overall a very fun evening. Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to a pumpkin patch last Sunday. It was a beautiful day and so nice to be outside. The kids enjoyed it, Connor more so than Addie. She wasn't exactly cooperating for pictures so we had to work for the smiles you see here! As soon as she sees a camera out she whines and runs towards you to 'see' the picture. The one you haven't taken yet :p It was fun though and we went home with one of their biggest pumpkins. We haven't decided yet what we're going to carve it into. Stay tuned...

I may have taken a few more...which you can view here :)

T-Ball

Connor is still loving T-Ball. This past weekend he even won the sportsmanship award! This thrilled him to death and left a permanent grin on his face the rest of the day :)

Ormond Beach ~ Fisher Family Reunion

We were in Ormond Beach a couple of weekends ago to attend my Great Aunt's 80th birthday party. Her birthday was actually earlier in the year but this was planned so that everyone could be there. So it felt more like a Fisher family reunion :) I got to see many faces I had not seen in a very, very long time and John and the kids got to meet a lot of our family for the first time. It was a fun event though the weather didn't exactly cooperate.

The kids day care was closed the following Monday for Columbus day so we made an extended weekend out of it. We also celebrated BeBe's birthday while we were there. The hotel we stayed at was right on the water and it had a lot of great amenities. BeBe, Grandpa and Uncle Chris stayed with us the night of the party. The kids had a ball and it was nice to get away with them. It was technically Addie's first vacation. Speaking of Addie, she did fantastic in the car, both there and back! She whined a little on the way there, but we were stuck in traffic which extended our time in the car by a couple of hours. So all things considering she was great :)

18 Months Old!

This post is a couple of weeks overdue. Believe it or not but our little princess has hit the 18 month mark! She continues to amaze us with how smart she is. We hear if from people all the time too, especially at daycare. It just isn't common for a toddler her age to talk so much :) And she doesn't just talk, she sings! It's adorable the way she sings and dances. I can't get enough of it! She's really sweet and lovable and loves to cuddle with us in bed in the mornings. She's becoming much more independent though and wants to do everything on her own. This is sometimes hard as she is still pretty small but she does her best to try! She is also a dare devil and can climb really well considering her size. This is good and bad. I like that she isn't afraid of things but you can't turn your eye for a second. She'll either be attempting to jump off the couch or climb on top of the fridge. I don't think she would really try to climb on top of the fridge but you get my point.

Addison absolutely adores her brother. She will do anything to get his attention and mimics everything he does. If she sees Connor do something, she is attempting it 1 second later. This is where the climbing and jumping comes into play :| She doesn't always like to share but neither does Connor. She always gives him a big hug before bed and walks away with a big smile on her face.

Our nights haven't been great lately but that is mostly due to teething. All four of her molars are coming in at one time. Slowly. Throw in an ear infection and we've had some rough nights.

She did okay at her 18 month checkup but that is when we uncovered her double ear infection. The same thing happened at her 15 month checkup. It's not really a good sign that she doesn't show many symptoms. She didn't have a fever, runny nose, etc. She wasn't sleeping great but we had attributed that to her teething. We took her back for a recheck two weeks later and they had both cleared. We just need to keep a close eye on her as the sick season approaches. If she starts to get more and more ear infections we may need to talk tubes.

Stats:
Height ~ 30 inches (5th percentile)
Weight ~ 20.5 pounds (20th percentile)
Head ~ 17.88 inches (20th percentile)

She has also moved into a new room at school. She is now in Ms. Neko's class and she seems to really like her. Ms. Neko loves Addison and we have a good feeling about her so far. She seems really nice and was really excited to have Addison in her room. She seems to have adjusted well but is still a little apprehensive at drop off in the mornings. Most of the kids are a lot bigger than she is so that could be intimidating as well.

Having fun waiting for the doctor...

Not happy about being checked out!

Connor got his flu shot while we were there. He even wanted to go first, to show Addie how it's done :) He's such a great big brother!

Anna Maria Island

John and I and some of my closest friends headed to Anna Maria Island for a long weekend back in September. It was our second time going as a group, turning this into an annual event! We stayed at the same house that we found a couple of years ago. It isn't right on the beach but it has its own pool and is only a couple of streets away from the water. We had pretty decent weather and just spent our time eating, drinking and relaxing with friends. It was a much needed break from work.

The kiddos were in heaven back home. BeBe and Grandpa had first shift, then Grandma and Papa came and they even had time with Aunt Nancy along the way. They were spoiled of course and hardly even noticed we were gone ;)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Connor had his first T-Ball game this morning! They started with a 30 minute practice followed by a 30 minute game. They all did pretty good considering it was their first time ever playing the game...and super cute to watch! He had a blast and it's been all he can talk about since. And he's still wearing his jersey :)

You can view more pictures here. Connor was wearing jersey #46. He and his buddy, Finn, are on the same team. He is in jersey #41. Thanks, Nancy, for helping me out with pictures today!!

Stitches

Connor had an accident at school a couple of weeks ago that resulted in stitches. Poor kid sure has seen his fare share of hospitals! He handled it all like a champ though. He really makes all of this easier on us as parents. It's hard enough to see him getting hurt, if he was screaming crying on top of it I'd be a basket case. John took him in while I stayed home with Addie. He said all of the nurses were shocked with how well he behaved and how calm he was throughout the entire procedure. He had to wear a band-aid with numbing cream for almost an hour. Then they did the stitches, 4 total. Five days later we took him in to our pediatrician to have them removed which was once again a non issue to him.

Labor Day Weekend

This post is long overdue but work has been sucking up most of my free time these days. We spent the week leading up to Labor Day in Cape Haze with Grandma and Papa. We skipped town due to the Republican National Convention. It was going to be a nightmare for us as the kids daycare is one block from where the convention was being held. I don't know how the city functioned during that time. I'm just glad we didn't have to deal with it. Work granted us permission to work from home and Grandma and Papa helped look after the kids while we worked. We were really lucky we had a refuge. We took the last couple of days off that week to relax and enjoy our time there. Not only was it Labor Day weekend, but it was also John's birthday :)

We had a lot of fun and no one was sick this time. Unless you count Addison throwing up in the car on our way down. Ugh, if it's not one thing (i.e. screaming crying), it's another! But the rest of our time there was enjoyable. We got some beach time, pool time, party time, football time and family time. And both Uncle Andrew and Uncle Mark made appearances at some point during our stay. This will likely be the last time we see Andrew for awhile so it was really good to see him. He moved to NYC this weekend!

John and I even got to sneak in a little kayaking Monday morning before we left. It was a beautiful day and so peaceful through the mangroves. We'll need to do that again!
